Week of October 17th!

" Fall In Love With Jesus!!"
We are falling in love more and more each day.  God is good all the time!

It is so nice to be back!  The students are doing so great and the transition was very smooth.
This week we worked very hard!  The students worked on identifying and blending short /u/ words.  We also focused on summarizing the main idea of a story and finding the sequence of events. We also practiced 's contractions.

The students are doing such a good job making connections all day long.  They are all earning REAL stickers for making connections of homophones, homographs, homonyms, blends, contractions and many many more.
In creation station this week the students made instruments.
This week we read A Fun Show and Shake a Rattle.
At the end of the day Friday we used our instruments to put on a show!!!

We are really getting great at Fix It and Stretch It center.  Keep up the good work!  Practice at home too.

Word Work Center is always fun!  The students sorted words and put them into sentences.

The students read The Red Eyed Tree Frog and brainstormed a word web of ideas on what the frog does not like to eat.  They then wrote about.  Great learning!

This week we started math buddies.  The buddies get together when we are done with independent work to work on concepts.  This week they practiced number bonds and subtraction flashcards which they were very excited about.  :)

Each student had the chance to take the STAR test  this week in class.  We will discuss this at conferences next week.  It is a helpful way to check out library books that are on your child's level.

Mrs. Moeller pulled all the students this week for fluency checks.  The students are really doing a super job!

SCIENCE
The students were so excited to start our unit on Rocks.  We are discussing living and non living things.  Ask your child to name all of the characteristics that a living thing needs.

God Bless You All!  Have a blessed weekend and I look forward to meeting with you all next week!

Week of October 3rd!

"Do a little more each day than you think you possibly can." Lowell Thomas

"God, Himself, will provide the sheep for sacrifice/"  Isaac showing his work from the important Religion lesson.

Clare shows her illustration from her Religion book.  Are you ready for Jesus?
I am so happy to see the students working so hard in handwriting.  What beautiful grips and posture I see!!!

Handwriting is a skill the children will use for life!

CENTERS
Great job in writing center.  We love to write!
The students worked on sorting words with the -nd, -nt and -nk endings.  Great job!

Sitton Spelling is super!  The students worked on the skill Fix It and Stretch It!  On our way to becoming life long spellers.  :)

Creation Station is so much fun.  A time to let our imaginations take over.  This week the students created a Creation mobile.  The students have been learning all about Creation in religion.

OUR FALL FACES
The students read the story, "The Little Scarecrow Boy" by Margaret Wise Brown this week.  The students then did a cute craft along with a writing response... The little scarecrow boy wanted to be like his father.  "How do you want to be like your mom or dad?"  So great!  We love to use literature to drive our learning.

The students sent me this picture to show Brayden!!  They wanted me to show it to him so that he knew what they look like...

Well... I showed him and he smiled!  I can't wait to see you all at the Harvest Festival.  Brayden is excited to meet you all.  I cannot wait to teach you all again starting on October 17th.  I am so excited to see you all again.  I have enjoyed seeing all the wonderful pictures and hearing all the wonderful stories through your letters and in talking to the wonderful Mrs. Moeller.  Thank you all for being such wonderful students and children of God...

Brayden says hello!

God Bless You All,
Mrs. Hack
